6/3/2008Pigs in the City Return On May 17th the fourth round of Pigs in the City returned to Uptown Lexington in a parade down Main Street. Miss Puffy, the Peppermint Pig, owned by The Candy Factory, joined the fun, riding in all her glory in an old Mustang convertible surrounded by a bevy of young beauties throwing out peppermints to the crowds. Begun in 2003 as an art initiative to celebrate both the 175th anniversary of Lexington and our barbecue heritage, the exhibit was wildly successful. These early pigs were sold at auction, but the public demanded more. New rounds of pigs (Miss Puffy belongs to the class of 2004) debuted in 2004 and 2006, staying on the streets of Uptown from May-October. If you are in the vicinity, make it a point to stop in Lexington to tour the pigs and to enjoy your favorite candies here at the store. The new round of pigs will be on the streets until October 21 when most of them will go home with owners who have already purchased them. Miss Puffy will be in our window looking for you!
