The Candy Factory is cooking!
When the store opened in 1978 we made most everything we sold. In 1979, when we moved uptown, our line of candies grew and we began purchasing candy from other vendors. However, once Piedmont Candy Co. was sold in 1987 the plant grew to the point where they were too busy to make anything for the retail store other than their signature Red Bird mints. With a store name like ours, we decided last fall that we needed to make something, so our fudge operation began under the leadership of Leigh Foster, the youngest Ebelein sister.
Made with real butter and cream the fudge was an instant hit with our customers. With a recipe file of over 200 fudges, we are constantly experimenting with new flavors. The store always has at least eight flavors, with something new added each week. Favorites include chocolate, chocolate pecan, peanut butter, chewy praline, orange vanilla, maple and penuche.
