Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

In December, The Candy Factory held its first annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest to benefit Davidson Medical Ministries, a local free clinic.  Twenty four entries were received in three categories:  Family (with children under 12), Teen (ages 13-17) and Adult (over 18).  Each house had to be totally edible and of a limited size.  During the three weeks that the houses were on display the public voted with their coins for their personal favorites.  Judging was done by home extension agents, and those points were added to the money collected to determine the following winners:

Family – 1^st place – Alexa Nance (pictured) and family

              2^nd place – Haley and Kellan Bodenheimer and family

              3^rd place – Ben, Abby and Jayne Hinson and family

Teen – 1^st place – Bryson Brady

           2^nd place – Nikita Dye, Desiree Hogan, Shakira Roberts

            3^rd place – Alvin Roman, Brenda Wall, Alicia Burton, Latamara Edwards

Adult- 1^st place – Carolina House of Asheboro

          2^nd place – Holly Wimmer
